Another unique fact about the 1982 Corvettes is the standard automatic transmission, with 1953 and 1954 being the only other years that did not offer the option of a manual transmission. 1982 was also the first year since the original C1 generation of Corvettes that a manual transmission was not available. The L83 350ci small block featured Cross-Fire-Injection for the first time, combining two injectors and a computer capable of making 80 adjustments per second.
