Gateway Classic Cars of Detroit is proud to offer for sale this beautiful 1948 Ford UK Anglia. The first Ford Anglia model, the E04A, was released on 31 October 1939 as smallest model in the UK Ford range. It replaced the Ford 7Y2 and was a facelifted version of that model. The Anglia was a simple vehicle aimed at the cheap end of the market, with few features. Most were painted Ford black. Styling was typically late-1930s, with an upright radiator. There were standard and deluxe models, the latter having better instrumentation and, on pre-war models, running boards. Both front and rear suspensions used transverse leaf springs, and the brakes were mechanical.
This example is far from its factory configuration, having gone thru the full American hot rod treatment. The little beast is powered by a powerful Chevy 355 CID V8 backed by a turbo-400 trans with a Coan 2500 converter kit and ford 9" rear end. The transmission has been rebuilt and the engine block was machined honed and bored with Ohio Lite crankshaft and competition cam by Mechroller. 8 tube down draft weber carburetor keep it fed. That is not where this custom ends. It has a 2x3" fully tubed frame, Aldan coil overs all the way around with a four inch drop, 4-way power disc brakes, Bell chrome front axle, 15 gallon aluminum fuel cell, Aeromotive electronic fuel pump, Braided lines front to back. Huge drag radials in the rear make sure all this engine works gets to the pavement where it counts. The list of changes and upgrades go on and on.
