This one is sporting The LG4 5.0L: Utilizing GM's improved "Computer Command Control" system, the computer assisted E4ME carburetor, and computer controlled distributor, this Chevy 305ci produced 145 hp and 240Lbs.Ft. of torque, sent to a 4 Speed Transmission, with the Optional WS6 Suspension.
In 1981, Pontiac introduced this, the third-generation Firebird Trans Am as a 1982 model, it’s first clean-sheet redesign since the all new design in 1970 as a 1970 ½ model. The new Trans Am, which had been 6 years in pre production, was smaller and lighter than the model it replaced, and far more aerodynamic. Pontiac advertised it as "The Driver’s Car." Pontiac was justifiably proud of the car’s overall shape, which was based upon a design by Roger Hughet and a clay model crafted by John Schinella’s studio at Pontiac.
