For sale in our Chicago showroom is this highly modified 1976 AMC CJ7. While these started out as a fairly capable vehicle, this one has been modified to take on almost anything you can throw at it. Powered by a fuel injected small block 5.7l Chevrolet engine to all four wheels, this Jeep can scoot. Power is directed through a 7004R automatic transmission and split by a 2-speed Dana transfer case into a Ford 9†with a Dana locker in the rear and a Dana front axle. While the CJ7 is notorious for rust problems, this body has been swapped with a fiberglass unit, so you don’t have to worry about body corrosion.
The exterior was coated in Porsche Blue and looks fantastic on this American classic. The roll bars from the factory are only mounted to the body, and the builder didn’t find that safe, especially now that the body was fiberglass. A new stronger roll bar has been built for this vehicle. The helps with the structural rigidity of the jeep and makes the steering much more responsive than a Jeep would typically be. A set of Kirkey racing seats fill the front of the cabin while a pair of RCI child seats fill the back. It’s easy to take the whole family anywhere you want to go with this very capable on and off road machine.
This first-year CJ7 is sure to grab the attention of anyone in traffic, or at the local car meets. With its capabilities, it’s no trailer queen and will get you where you need to go, no matter what the weather is like. Options include: AM/FM/CD, Manual convertible top, Power Brakes, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Radial Tires, Alloy wheels.
