For sale in our Chicago showroom is what quite possibly is the most recognized sports car in history. This 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang is powered by a 289 CID V8 and 4-speed manual transmission. Contrary to popular belief, the first model year for the Ford Mustang was 1965. Mustangs produced between March 9th and July 31st of 1964 are often coined the 1964 ½ Ford Mustang by enthusiasts. The Mustang was based heavily on familiar yet simple components, many of which were already in production for other Ford models. Many (if not most) of the interior, chassis, suspension, and drivetrain components were derived from those used on Ford's Falcon and Fairlane. This use of common components also shortened the learning curve for assembly and repair workers, while at the same time allowing dealers to pick up the Mustang without also having to spend massive amounts of money on spare parts inventories to support the new car line. The exterior is a beautiful Gunmetal gray. The interior is done in a classic black leather. New items include a complete wiring harness, front/rear power disc brakes, front/rear suspension kits, power steering kit, wheels, tires, gas tank, 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor, headers, exhaust, Hurst shifter, radiator, and electric fan.
