For sale in our Chicago showroom is a well-kept 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V. Under the hood lies the Ford 400 Cleveland V8 that is backed by the C6 3 speed automatic transmission. The options are plentiful and include A/C, AM/FM/Cassette, cruise control, hub caps, power brakes, power steering, power locks, power seats, power sunroof, power windows, tilt wheel, seat belts, leather interior, and radial tires with white walls. Changes for the 1978 model year include a larger radiator, full imitation convertible “carriage roof†top, and a digital “miles to empty†gauge. This was a small rectangular display, located to the right of the steering wheel, which sat in place of the standard equipped “low fuel†warning lamp. Other standard options included the “Sure-Track†anti-lock braking system from the Mark IV, a Cartier in-dash clock, a padded vinyl roof, and full power accessories including automatic climate control. This is one of the longest, most produced series of a vehicle ever! Starting with the Continental series in 1957 and in 1998, the discontinuation of the series ended with the Mark VIII.
