Gateway Classic Cars of Charlotte, North Carolina, is proud to list this great 1928 Chrysler 52.
By 1928 the Roaring 20s were nearly over, and the bubble was about to burst. Chrysler sold 160,070 vehicles - good for seventh place - but would not reach that number again until 1950.
In 1928, the 4-cylinder Series 50 became the Series 52, bumping the wheelbase back to 109 inches. The engine was redesigned while remaining 170 cubic inches. It also gained 4-wheel hydraulic brakes in March. Chrysler offered seven Series 52 models in 2- and 4-door configurations. A total of 76,857 1928 Chrysler Series 52s were sold.
This Chrysler 52 is an absolute pleasure to drive. The 21-horsepower flathead four-cylinder starts right up and runs well. All of those 21 horses are corralled by a three-speed, manual transmission that shifts as it should, and stopping is accomplished by the four-wheel hydraulic brakes, a big deal at the time. You and your passenger are comfortable inside, thanks to the high-quality upholstery. The car comes with the rim separator needed to change tires. It's just a super nice example of an antique car that would look amazing in your garage and at the car show.
