Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta is proud to represent this awesome 1955 Austin Healey 100 BN1! The Austin-Healey 100 is a sports car that was built by Austin-Healey from 1953 until 1956. The "100" was named by Healey for the car's ability to reach 100 mph! The 100 was the first of three models later called the "Big Healey's" to distinguish them from the much smaller Austin-Healey Sprite. A total of 10,030 BN1s were built from May 1953 until replaced by the BN2 model in August 1955.
This particular 1955 BN1 sits on its original frame and stock body, but power is sent to the rear wheels by a crate Chevy 350 V-8 engine backed by a 4-Speed 700-R4 Automatic Transmission and a narrowed Ford 9-inch posi-traction rear end with 3.25 gears. Additional modifications include aluminum heads, roller cams, forged crank, Holley 750 double pumper carburetor, and 4-bolt mains. This BN1 also features 4-Wheel Disc Brakes with Dayton 72 spoke 15 inch wheels. If you are in the market for a rather rare Austin Healey, this 1955 100 BN1 is a guaranteed attention getter!
Another interesting note, this car has an unverified signature on the dash by Gerry Coker, the designer of the 100 body. Once again, this is an unverified signature, but the previous owner was said to be good friends with Gerry Coker from the Austin Healey Car Club of America.
