The Ford Mustang is an American Icon and legendary Pony Car, and this 2005 is no different. The fifth generation Mustang was launched for the 2005 Model year and was code named S-197 based on the new Ford D2C platform under direction of Chief Engineer for Ford's Indy Car program being run under Mario Andretti. This new S-197 was marketed as “retro-futurism design that harkens back to the fastback Mustangs of the late-1960's. The 4.6L V8 produces 300 hp at 5750 rpm and 320 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm, and is backed up with the Ford 5R55N 5-speed automatic transmission. This driveline propels the car to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.89 seconds. To help all this power get to the ground and rocket the car to its impressive 0-60 time the car is equipped with a 3.31:1 final drive ration. The 2005 Mustang is equipped with MacPherson-struts front suspension with reverse “L" lower control arms. The rear suspension was a new three-link design with a Panhard Rod that controls the vertical and lateral movements of the axle. The S-197 Mustang features a Live Axle.
