The Mustang debuted as a compact sports car powered by a 170 six cylinder with a pair of V8 options. Most people opted for the classic two door coupe which led sales 5 to 1. The convertible however was highly sought after but with the additional $237 cost which was an additional 10% it put the convertible just out of reach from the targeted buyers. Now those convertibles have become an American icon with a red 65 convertible being one of the most sought after cars ever made. This 65 has gone through an extensive amount of work to bring it to its current state. Starting with a new set of rear quarters the body and fitment of panels is very good for a 65 Mustang. Naturally a set of floor pans were welded in making the body itself solid and sound. The original green paint was just not going to cut it so the decision made to go with the iconic red that you see now.
