SeatbeltsGateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is excited to present this 1939 1.5 Ton Flatbed Truck, originally a firetruck. The vehicle had very low miles when it was restored per the owner, many old new original parts in the box were used. These parts came from an amazing old collection of new in the box original parts including the grill, trim, headlights, fenders and so on. The truck has a 100% completely rebuilt 2 speed rear end from the same parts collection. The truck boasts mid frame an all new running gear including a new unused Spicer Auxiliary transmission which is a 5831c which gives you a double under in the gearing with a direct and a 20% overdrive. Moving forward there is a new old stock 420 Munci 4 speed transmission.
With the 2 overdrives it allows you at 2000 rpm's on the engine, lets you cruise between 65 and 67 miles per hour on the freeway. It is a great set up per the owner. All Six (6) Wheels pus the 2 spares are heavy duty accessory wheels that left the factory that were only on the heavy duty Chevrolet trucks that were gravel trucks or heavy equipment haulers. These wheels were listed in the heavy duty truck catalogs from 1937 through 1946.
The rear bumper is a bit unique. It came off a 1940 cab over truck and the truck does have a receiver hitch installed. The interior boasts a custom tachometer which was custom made to match the original 1939 style speedometer. All instruments are reconditioned and the clock in the glove box door is an original clock which also was reconditioned with a transistor which allows the clock to run on 12 volts instead of 6.
The attention to detail shows through out the truck. l surely bring the next owner years of enjoyment. Restoration was completed about 3 years ago per the owner. Painted in original Black and Blue with Gray molding.
