Gateway Classic Cars of Scottdale is excited to digitally advertise #1473 SCT 1969 AMC AMX in Big Bad Blue. If the color is not enough to get you excited about this AMX then the documentation will!! This Big Bad Blue AMX was purchased 16 months after the original owner by the present owner's brother. The current owner (purchased from his brother in 1989 and has owned it since). We have 2 full binders of documentation including a second set of keys, receipts for restoration, about 8700 miles on the rebuild per the current owner. Per the owner he states it is the correct 390 V8 with a Borg Warner T10 4 speed.
The body was disassembled down to the unibody per the owner, receipts included. The build sheet is included in the documentation, the AMX originates from the American Motors Experimental" code used on a concept vehicle. Not quite a Pony car and not quite a sports car, since the beginning the AMX has defied classification. With just 19,134 produced before it reached the end of the road! Although uncommon the two seat AMX remains a favorite to buy especially with the 390 V8 and a 4 speed. The 390 V8 produced 325 hp.
The Trendsetter side exhaust was offered by the AMC dealer as a dress up item or a functional side pipe exhaust. The American Society of Engineers named the AMX as the "Best engineered car of the year" in 1969 and 1970. Automotive historian and author, Richard M. Langworth noted that the AMX has "all the right sportscar stuff" and that the "little machine that can only go up in value over the long haul".
great opportunity to own a Big Bad Blue 390 V8 4 speed AMX with binders full of documentation...
