Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is happy to offer this good looking 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza. Clearly, one of the most distinctive automobiles of the 1960's is Chevrolet's Corvair, a compact model with four-wheel independent suspension and a rear-mounted, horizontally opposed, air-cooled, 2.3L 6-cylinder engine for power. In its original form, the Corvair was a very basic car and luxury features were few. It was simply a car for those who could not afford an Impala, Bel Air or Biscayne. It then became the basis for an American version of a European GT type of car, the Monza Spyder, which was followed by the Corsa in 1965 and 1966 with its new Corvette-based suspension and standard 140-hp engine. This is the 140hp version, shown in Regal Red & sporting an automatic transmission, recently reupholstered black vinyl interior, a newer "retro" looking AM/FM head unit with Kenwood speakers, cold A/C and an aftermarket set of polished Vision 5-Stars with aggressive looking Kumho rubber. Over the years, the Corsair's have developed an almost cult-like following, not only because of the rarity but, also because of the sheer joy of driving them!
