While Ford focused more on utility, Chevy went after style AND utility. Over 25 model years and 5 generations, Chevy's half truck, half car has proven to be a classic since its debut in 1959. This El Camino before you expresses that philosophy to a tee. Classy Malibu styling and comfort in front, with the utility of a mid-size truck out back. When the El Camino first came into the market it was built on the Chevrolet X-frame, it shared the same engine options and styling as the other big Chevy cars at the time like the Impala and Biscayne. This two-tone 1981 Chevrolet El Camino is a clean example of an affordable classic. The silver and blue combination outside flows nicely inside with blue vinyl bench seat along with door panels, dash, carpet and headliner. The 305-cubic-inch V-8 is presented well with chrome valve covers and mated to a smooth shifting three-speed automatic transmission with a lock-up torque converter to aid highway mileage. Optional 14 steel wheels have been painted to match and wear chrome hubcaps and stainless beauty rings and are fitted with a set of Classic Radial whitewall tires. A two-spoke steering wheel sits in front of a horizontal 85mph speedometer and fuel gauge. Mounted under the new BOSS radio head unit and working climate controls is aftermarket gauges that include battery voltage, water temperature and oil pressure.
