Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is excited to offer this nicely done 1981 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler. The CJ8 Scrambler, first built by American Motors Company in 1981, was a stretched CJ7 with a short top and pickup truck bed, and only a grand total of only 8,355 CJ8's were produced, adding to the collectability & value of these underrated CJ's! This Scrambler is outfitted nicely with a 350 CID Chevy small block (casting# 14010207) that is topped with an Edelbrock Performer EPS aluminum intake, an Edelbrock electric choke 4-barrel carb, a Mallory ignition, shorty headers, power steering, front disc power braking, an oversized aluminum radiator with an electric fan, a Painless wiring harness and a cold blowing A/C. The power is put to the wheels through the 3-speed automatic transmission & is shifted with a B&M ratchet shifter sitting between the high back bucket seats. Also in the cab is a Tuffy Security Products locking center console housing the JVC AM/FM/CD unit & a full sized Tuffy lock box in the cargo area for extra security when out on the road. This Scrambler body & paint has been recently redone by Toy Box Jeeps out of Florida & shows very well, especially with the wide lip alloy wheels & the BF Goodrich All-Terrain "Baja Champion" rubber, chrome step rails, front & rear bumpers, both full & bikini soft tops and some ProComp ES3000 shocks. Summer is right around the corner and a reworked CJ8 Scrambler provides about as much "fun in the sun" as any off road vehicle ever produced!
