Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is happy to present probably the smallest car we've ever seen, this super fun 1967 King Midget Model III. For the uninitiated, the Midget was a product of the Midget Motors Corporation of Athens, Ohio, a postwar automaker that for a while was actually the sixth-largest in America! The Model III was sold fully assembled and was advertised in magazines like Popular Mechanics and Mechanix Illustrated. It was billed as both "World's Number One Fun Car" and "World's Most Exciting Small Car", and many people still believe it is! These people, and countless others, helped King Midget establish an important and significant niche in the annals of automobile history. The King Midget celebrated its 65th birthday in 2011, and among all automobiles ever manufactured throughout the world, King Midget holds one untouchable record... King Midget was the only small car continuously manufactured for nearly a quarter of a century; from 1946 until operations ceased in 1970. Under its tail finned bodywork was a rear-mounted, air-cooled, one-cylinder Kohler engine making 12 horsepower, a two-speed automatic transmission, fully independent suspension, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Owners could expect to average better than 50 mpg of use in daily-driving use, and the Model III could reach 50 mph. If you are wanting to be the hit of any parade or event in your area, or are looking for a street legal advertising piece that just makes people smile, then this 1967 King Midget III will be the absolute star of the show!
