In 1955 the Thunderbird first debuted as a 2-seater sports car competing directly with the Corvette. However, over a few short years it transformed into a large 4-seater personal luxury car with the type of power, luxury amenities and cloud like ride you would typically expect from a Lincoln or Cadillac of the day. Affectionately referred to as the "Square Bird" the second-generation Thunderbird was grand statement of American opulence that reflects the time of the 1950s so well. With its big front end featuring a chrome grill, prominent hood bulge and tail fins that go all the way back this big bird makes quite the statement. Drop the power folding top into the trunk and this Thunderbird takes on an even more svelte appearance! Take a seat inside and you almost feel like you are piloting a jet with a dual cowl dash layout and a stylish center console housing the power window controls. The front bucket seats are fit for a captain and the rear seats offer a plush lounge for your passengers. Under the hood is a 352CID V-8 and is paired to a Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic. Factory rated at 300HP, just imagine how this Thunderbird can get up and go, and the power steering & power brakes are a really nice touch on this classic! As the earlier Birds continue to rise in value these "square birds" are next in line. The aesthetics of this era T-Bird are hard to resist and will never be duplicated again.
