Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk. It is hard to believe it's been nearly 65 years since the 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk graced America's highways. It's been decades since Studebaker built its last car making the Golden Hawk a milestone car worth looking at. In 1957, Studebaker took a different approach as compared to the ‘56 and offered just two Hawk models, the Silver Hawk and Golden Hawk. The Golden Hawk featured the same 289CID V-8 as the Silver Hawk, but it was equipped with the McCulloch supercharger giving this car 275hp. All that power goes to the rear wheels via the 3-speed automatic transmission. This example is done in the stunning Arctic white and Tiara Gold Metallic color combination with a white and black interior. Some noticeable features on the exterior include tail fins, gold script trim, wing windows, and a hood bulge to clear the factory-equipped supercharger. A massive two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of an engine-turned dash fascia housing a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges that include a boost gauge, coolant temperature, battery amps, oil pressure and fuel level. In its day, the Studebaker Golden Hawk was compared with the Chrysler 300B, the Ford Thunderbird and even the Chevrolet Corvette. The 0 to 60mph time was a blistering , in its day, 7.8 seconds and with a top speed of 125mph, The Golden Hawk was truly one of the very first muscle cars! If you are looking for an interesting, whimsical ride that’s sure to attract attention, this 1957 Studebaker is sure to fit the bill.
