1969 Pontiac Firebird

At first glance you notice the deep burgundy paint and strong shine on the chrome. Upon further inspection it is easy to see that attention to detail was the driving theme with this build! Everything seems to have been thought through before a wrench was removed from the toolbox. I walked around this car three times before I started taking notes for this description and I have to admit, I am not a fan of the drop top but this car I would love to own. Under the hood is the Pontiac 350 cubic inch small block and it is adorned with all the proper go-fast goodies. Edelbrock intake and a Holly Sniper fuel injection system provide the air, fuel and immediate throttle response. MSD was the choice for spark with a MSD distributor, coil and 6AL box. The turbo 350 transmission was replaced with a 700r4 four speed automatic for practical driving on the highway and even helps avoid the gas stations with the overdrive. The 700r4 also allows the use of 3.55:1 gears in the rear axle housing, the mix of the two give you tire screeching launches and low rpm highway driving or plainly said, the pinnacle of both worlds. Sitting behind the steering wheel you will notice that somethings are a little different, some very subtle, some stand out like the 6 cup holders positioned in the car. Some of the subtle changes are, while the console looks stock a closer inspection reveals the nature of transmission just below it with four choices of forward gears. This 1969 Firebird convertible is a blast to drive with the top up or down, aggressive launches, smooth handling and looks to kill. Think I will head down to the soda show, pick up Peggy Sue or Bobby Jo then head to the drive-in theater, they are playing that new movie American Graffiti.
