The Commander came as a higher optioned form of the Champion with a rich history spanning back to the name originating back to the year 1927. The Champion and the Commander underwent many facelifts through the decades and by the time the 1950's rolled around they were almost the same car with only an engine option and a few select luxury features separating them. This Commander shows as a prime example of a sports car in disguise as its quaint styling masks the fact that it's packing a 289 cubic inch V8 under the hood of this gloss black beauty supplying bigger horsepower for the small bodied car and a throaty sound out of the dual exhaust system. The V8 is paired to a 4-speed manual transmission making for an exciting ride and precise easy to use shift gates. All this energy is transferred back to a Ford 8.8" rear end. The Studebaker is equipped with AM/FM stereo with a CD player to propel this stylish ride along with a modern take on the cruising tunes.
