Gateway Classic Cars Milwaukee is excited to present this 1964 Lincoln Continental. The “Continental” nameplate has been in production on and off for over nine decades. The fourth- generation model was manufactured from 1961-1969. In 1961 Lincoln put all its eggs in one basket with the new Continental model due to steep financial losses. Sold as only four-door and convertible models. The rear-hinged (suicide doors) became the most iconic feature with a door ajar light on mounted on the dash. In 1964 the wheel- base was extended three inches and the rear roofline was squared off to increase rear seat room. The interior was also redesigned in 1964 with a new full-width instrument panel, updated upholstery, and redesigned door panels and trim.
This 1964 Lincoln Continental is painted Artic White with an attractive blue cloth interior. The abundance of shiny chrome, sharp lines and period wide whitewalls make for one dreamy looking automobile. Under the hood of this beauty is a 430 cubic inch V-8 attached to a three-speed automatic transmission. Comfort features include air conditioning, power windows, power seat, AM radio, seat belts, power steering and power brakes.
Many believe that the fourth generation Continental saved the Lincoln brand from extinction by creating a new type of luxury car that became an instant hit among buyers. This 1964 Lincoln Continental is a nice example of what has become one of most iconic luxury models in the classic car market.
