Founded in Southern California by Bruce Meyer who worked as an artist, engineer, surfer, and boat builder, he came up with the idea for building fun and interesting looking fiberglass bodies that could be retro fitted onto an existing Volkswagen Beetle chassis with a ready to roll drive train. These dune buggies proved to be very useful for handling to terrain of sand dunes, desserts, and beaches alike. The popularity of the Dune Buggy was also seen in pop culture, being featured in popular movies, cartoons, TV shows and even getting a few Matchbox castings and car for Barbie!
Our featured Dune Buggy sits on a 1964 Volkswagen chassis. The car is powered by a 1600 cubic centimeter air cooler 4-cylinder engine linked to a 4-speed manual transmission. The car finished in a stunning meter flake orange paint job that is reminiscent of a piece of candy. Appointed inside the buggy you will pure white vinyl seats with matching orange piping and a diamond pattern stitch. You will also find a lovely white steering wheel with slotted chrome plated 3-spoke design. Setting off the beautiful orange paint job are chrome smoothie rims with black wall tires, a chrome platted roll bar and enough room for 4 passengers.
