Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is pleased to present this beautiful orange (Calypso Coral?) 1970 Ford Mustang Grande for sale. For those who might not remember the "Grande" models: the Grande was a "luxury" model that Ford added to the Mustang lineup in 1969, available only as a hardtop. The 'Grande' featured a softer ride, 55 pounds (24.9 kg) of extra sound deadening, a vinyl top, wire-style wheel covers (chromed "Magnum 500-style" wheels optional), racing-style mirrors, and a special interior with high back bucket seats, wood-grain trim, and a center console storage space. It was proved to be quite popular with buyers, with production numbers reaching 22K units in its first year. In 1970, Grande sales were just under 14K units. This 1970 Mustang Grande is powered by a 351 CID V8, which is backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. Its owner has done a few things to improve its roadworthiness, as well as give it a little extra kick. The rear shocks were replaced, along with the front sway bar bushings, in April 2020. In May 2020, the upper and lower control arms and ball joints were replaced, along with outer tie rod ends and swaybar links, and a new alternator was added in June 2020. The front shocks were then replaced in July 2020, and while the car was "getting shocked" the 2nd time, its owner decided to add a little pep to the pony's giddyup, having a 4BBL carb and aluminum intake installed at the same time (the original carb and intake will ship with car in case you want to put it back to the way it was). It also has a Flowmaster-equipped dual exhaust system, to give it that vintage muscle sound. The interior is also in very good shape, sporting the same black Corinthian Vinyl-trimmed Houndstooth cloth seats as it had when it rolled off the line in Metuchen, NJ back in the day. The carpet and headliner also look good, as does the attractive woodgrain applique trim. This "more than one trick Pony" is riding on a set of Chromed Magnum 500-style steel wheels that are wrapped with P215/70R14 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. Additional options on this 1970 Ford Mustang Grande are Air Conditioning (updated to R134a), AM radio (not working), Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Seat Belts, Spare Tire, and Vinyl Interior. Give our Houston showroom a call or send us an email - we'd love to help you snag this Pony before it gallops away from you!
