Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to offer this gorgeous Diamond Blue Platinum 1966 Ford Thunderbird. According to its trim plate, it appears to be in the same colors as it was when it was originally built, with code N (aka "Platinum", aka "Light Blue") paint, and code 58 (Dark Blue) for the interior trim. Of course, that shouldn't come as a surprise, given that this is essentially a one-owner car! The niece of the original owner, who brought us this classic, has known this beauty for 56 years now! It's powered by the same power train that it came with from the factory, a big block Ford 390 CID V8 and its corresponding 3-speed automatic transmission. When they were new, those big, thumping 390s produced 315 horsepower and 427 Lb/Ft of torque...more than enough to get one of these 'Birds blazing down the highway! While it's impossible to verify that the odometer hasn't rolled over, a thorough going over on this car will likely leave the inspector concluding that it has indeed not yet passed the 100K mark. The interior of the car reflects how well it has been cared for over the years, with only some minor wear showing on the top of the driver's door panel...no doubt from the driver waving to admirers as she zipped past them. With its novel "aircraft cockpit inspired" dash and switchgear, the wraparound rear seats, and its headliner and carpet in great shape, this is one classic that's ready to be used regularly. Inside and out, this Thunderbird shows very well and will turn some heads as you're motoring down Route 66. This '66 T-Bird has cold A/C, AM Radio, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Rear Defroster, Seat Belts, and Vinyl Interior. 1966 was the last year for the fourth generation Thunderbird: the next generation would see a major redesign, including models with four doors for the first time. There are some that will say that the '66 would be that last of the traditional Thunderbirds, making the 1966 models much more sought after than the subsequent iterations. Regardless of one's take on that, this car is one of those rare survivors that is ready to hit the road - get in, turn the key, slip it into gear, and head on out.
