Take a VW Beetle, make it a little wider, a little more aerodynamic, give it a touch of elegance, and you have the Karmann Ghia. Volkswagens neat little sports car that allowed them to appeal to a new market. This car would be developed by Karmann, a German auto manufacture and assembler used by both Porsche and Volkswagen. The car was styled by famous Italian design house Ghia. The Karmann Ghia was crafted as a streamline body absent of seams and individual panels. It was a beautiful design then, and its a beautiful design now. While The Karmann Ghia was considered a sports car, it was intentionally marketed to look like a race-car, but drive like a cruiser. And that really helped give the car its charm.
The exterior is in good shape. The yellow paint color and bubble hubcaps scream Volkswagen. With the top down this car just looks too good. The interior is simple and classy. The wooden dash panel is a very nice touch, and a CD stereo has been installed. At the rear we have a 4 Cylinder 1600 cc motor, paired to a manual 4-speed. A fun, humble Volkswagen sports car.
