Hey Pontiac fans, Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is happy to present this very sharp 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible- in triple black!
Firebirds hit the streets along with the Camaro in 1967, in an effort to combat the success of Ford’s Mustang pony cars, introduced 3 years earlier. The Firebirds and Camaros were small cars back in the day, and lighter than their big brother Lemans, GTO’s and Chevelles due to more of a unibody construction with front subframe. The new “F” body cars quickly became favorites on the street and strip. This ’69 looks very nice outside, needing little to look outstanding. The paint is smooth with almost no defects, a car anyone would be proud to drive down the road. It has a power top, which needs service. The wheels still look good but would ideally be replaced due to normal wear. Yeah, we know it has a '67 version hood tach, the correct ones are readily available and were an option on several Pontiacs 67-72.
The interior is good overall. A new carpet set would go a long way. The buckets and console are all Pontiac with a great 60’s look and feel. Under the hood is Pontiac’s 400 big block V8, mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. It fires right up and sounds terrific thanks to the performance exhaust system. Idle is smooth and has that great Pontiac sound. Driving ease is enhanced by power steering and brakes, and air conditioning. Overall a great car ready for it’s new owner!
