Gateway Classic Cars of Detroit is proud to present this 1984 Oldsmobile 442. When first introduced in 1964 as a performance package for the Cutlass, the 4-4-2 designation referred to 4 speed manual transmission, 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. Oldsmobile's ingredients for performance. Over the years that meaning changed a bit but in its final years the transmission was a 4-speed automatic with overdrive, and it still had a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust outlet. Equipped with an 8.5-inch GM corporate differential and all were equipped with 3.73:1 ring and pinion final drive gears. Rather than using the weaker 7.5-inch rear differential found in the Monte carlo SS. Many 442's did not come with RPO G80 (limited-slip). This was due to dealer ordering "packages" that grouped popular options together for ease of ordering, these models used the same stout unit found in the Buick Grand National (a specific differential designed by Eaton).
That said, this one has the G80 limited slip diff, and the #9 on the 8th number of the vin, so this is a real deal, rare one! With a 307ci V8 that is mated to the 200R transmission with the hurst Lightning Rods shifter! Finished in the iconic silver with the black bottom and red stripes, you're sure to get a lot of thumbs up! On the inside you'll find the red cloth interior that is in great condition, with no holes rips or tears.
Other options include: A/C (blows cold), AM/FM radio with a cassette player, cruise control, power brakes-steering-locks-seats-windows, tilt wheel and radial tires.
