The Cadillac Eldorado is a luxury car manufactured and marketed by Cadillac from 1952 until 2002 over twelve generations. The nameplate Eldorado is a contraction of two Spanish words that translate as "the gilded (i.e., golden) one" - and also refers to El Dorado, the mythical Colombian "Lost City of Gold" that fascinated Spanish explorers. The twelfth and final generation Eldorado introduced for 1992 was 11 in (279 mm) longer and 3 in (76 mm) wider than the previous generation, featuring frameless window glass. Powering this Eldorado is the 4.6L 32-valve Northstar V8. Putting the power to the wheels is a 4-Speed Automatic Transmission. The Eldorado Touring Coupe - also known as the ETC - has a more international flavor, with a firmer, more sporting suspension calibration, and a faster steering ratio.
