Gateway Classic Cars is proud to represent this Brazilian imported 1970 Volkswagen Split-Window Bus! The first generation of the Volkswagen Type 2 with the split windshield, informally called the Microbus or Splitscreen, was produced from March 1950 through the end of the 1967 model year. In late 1967, the second generation of the Volkswagen Type 2 (T2) was introduced and known for its Bay Window windshield. The VW Brazilian buses doesn't follow the same timeline as the German models. The production of the Brazilian VW Bus started in 1957 at the VW plant in So Bernardo, an industrial district in surroundings of So Paulo. Its production lasted until 1975 when it was replaced by the VW Bus Bay Windows model, which was built up to 2013.
This particular 1970 model is known as a 15 Window Kombi. This bus was imported from Brazil in 2019 following a restoration and has enjoyed a slow costal life since. Power is sent to the rear wheels by the infamous air-cooled 1600cc 4-Cylinder motor backed by a 4-Speed Manual Transmission. This vehicle is finished in a two tone White and Tan over a beautifully redone interior. If you're in the market for a late production Type 1 VW Bus, this 1970 15 Window Kombi should be a top contender!
