Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this outstanding 1971 Plymouth Barracuda! This awesome black-on-black beauty is truly something to see! With less than 100 miles since being fully restored – this is going to make a real car guy very happy!
Under the hood we have a date-correct 1971 G-Code 440 CID motor that has been completely rebuilt and .30 over. The motor comes with all new valves, Magnum springs, hardened seats, Comp Cam and Lifters kit (#21-224-4, valve lift = .488 I .491 E, with 274 duration), new Forged pistons, new rings, reconditioned steel crank & rods, new bearings, a double sprocket timing chain, windage trey, HD oil pump, and a new electric ignition. The 915 heads bolted to this big block have also been rebuilt and restored as well as the correct Carter 750 CMF AVS Carburetor.
The transmission is also a date-correct 1971 A-833 4-Speed manual that has been professionally rebuilt. Attached to it is a brand-new Hurst Shifter, shifting rods, McLeod Clutch and new driveshaft linked to a Sure Grip rear end 489 case with 3:55 gears.
The body is in excellent condition with all new fenders, new quarter panels, and hood and is all straight and aligned. The cross members are original and solid, as well as the original wheel houses, well area, doors floors, trunk, deck lid, grill – all original with no rust or corrosion. The Shaker Bubble Kit is from Ben Snoberg and is fully functional. As for the undercarriage, the entire frame has been restored and re-coated in high-quality Gloss Black to match the rest of the car.
The car features drum brakes all the way around as well as a new master cylinder, new brake distribution block, all new lines and hoses, new wheel cylinders, new e-brake cable, shoes and hardware. The original front end features new bushings, ball joints, pittman and idler arm, and tie-rods. New shocks all the way around, big block K-Member/Torsion bars, new heavy duty leaf springs and a rear sway bar. Wrapped around the black steel Mopar wheels with Plymouth Division Caps is a new set of BF Goodrich tires and she’s ready to hit the road!
The exterior of the car shows incredible whether inside a showroom or out in the sun with its pristine “Formal Black” X9 Base/Clear paint job. New bumpers, emblems and windshield are all brand new, but the rest of the brightwork is all-original and has been restored back to its glory.
The inside of this car is just as beautiful as the outside with all new seat covers, carpet, dash cap, original door panels, all working gauges, and all working accessory and courtesy lights. All the weather stripping and window sweeps have been replaced as well, and the all-new convertible top is ready to go!
