For sale in our Nashville show room is this very original 1938 Ford DeLuxe four door convertible! While the vast majority of automobiles built in the U.S. in the late 1930s had closed bodies, open cars still carried an aura of luxury and exclusivity. Even Ford, which perfected mass production, introduced a new open car that combined the best features of a closed body, a cabriolet, and a four-door sedan into one single design. Offered only in DeLuxe trim, the distinctive Convertible Sedan drew many prospective buyers into Ford showrooms. This example came from a car museum in the Southeast and left the factory with nearly every one of the 20+ factory options for the year and model. These included deluxe hubcaps, deluxe wheels, cigarette lighter, side mirrors, dash clock, bumper guards, glove box, and many more! This car came with an 85 bhp, 221 cu. in. V-8 engine with a two-barrel Stromberg carburetor, three-speed manual transmission, solid front axle with transverse leaf spring, semi-floating rear axle with transverse leaf spring , and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes. The car has been outfitted with a few newer parts to improve drivability and safety. The upgrades include a new griffin radiator to handle the rigors of modern driving, new distributor and coil, new battery, and an alternator conversion. The Chevrolet Master and Master Deluxe were manufactured and marketed between 1934 and 1942 to replace the 1933 Eagle model. It was the top-of-the-line model for Chevrolet during that era. The base model in 1939 was renamed the Master 85. While the original powerplant, a 206 cid inline 6 rated at 80hp performed well in the day, this 1939 touring machine will do better. This build features a GM ZZ4 302 cid, 224 hp V8 crate motor mated to a Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission and 10-bolt Chevy 3:23 rear end. This beautiful Purple/Grey machine also includes rack & pinion steering, power front disc brakes, ceramic coated headers, stainless exhaust & fuel tank. We offer this 1939 Chevrolet Deluxe Sedan. Well you can throw your ideas of staying out of sight right out the window if you take this 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe 2-door sedan home with you. Bright orange paint, flames, a rumbling stroker motor, and all the other stuff that makes hot rods awesome is standard equipment. If you like the look, you're going to love the ride. Over $25,000 was spent on the paint and interior on this car and it shows. The '39 Chevys were always attractive cars, and with a few minor tweaks, this one takes on a slick hot-rod look that's impeccably smooth. The all-steel body did not require major surgery to get to its current astounding condition, just a lot of time invested in the details. Plus block sanding... lots and lots of block sanding. The bright orange paint has a bunch of pearl in it, so there's a glow to it when the light hits it just right, and the incredible flames are so intricate and detailed that they probably took two weeks to paint all by themselves. You'll note that much of the trim was shaved, and the flames lick around the side trim which is still in place, just painted to match the body. The grille appears stock but is actually a fabricated piece that simulates the classic 1939 Chevy V-shaped grille, giving it an updated, smooth look. The windshield was Vee'd, the running boards painted body color and treated to their own flame job, and discreet side mirrors were fitted to the doors. Other smooth tricks include a flush-mounted fuel-filler door and the low-mounted taillights where the bumper used to life. The stunning interior is well beyond your usual hot rod fare, incorporating low-back buckets and more flames to great effect. The tan leatherette upholstery feels upscale and supple, and the modern buckets are all-day comfortable. They brought the orange paint inside, but in small doses so it feels cohesive without being overwhelming, and the custom-made dashboard is absolutely beautiful with its cream-colored gauges. A/C was artfully incorporated into the dash and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo uses speakers in the custom center console and rear deck to deliver sound. A full-width back seat means this is a family-friendly rod and with a sizeable trunk in back, feel free to hit the road in style. Cruising is effortless, but this Chevy is also downright fast thanks to a 383 cubic inch small block which has been dressed in lots of chrome. The coordination with the bodywork is evident and they really went the extra mile to make it look right, hood up or hood down. Equipment like a 4-barrel carburetor and block-hugger headers help the fast-revving stroker motor build horsepower and with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, it's plenty punchy around town. The chassis was reinforced and upgraded with a Mustang II front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, while out back there's a Ford 9-inch on leaf springs with a beefy sway bar. Disc brakes at all four corners are a sensible upgrade and with new ball joints and shocks in 2011, it rides and drives superbly. 15-inch American Racing wheels polished up nicely and wear 195/60/15 front and fat 225/70/15 rear performance radials. Well-built and not too radical to drive across the country, this very cool '39 Chevy makes a compelling argument for full-sized rods. Now for sale in Houston showroom is one very cool all-metal 1940 Ford Sedan Deluxe. Covered in a Creme and Burgundy two-tone paint scheme, it looks like any other nicely-done 1940's sedan, but this one is not what it seems at first glance...but more on that later! Its exterior chrome is in good shape, and the interior chrome trim looks great! Open the hood, and you'll note that the engine bay sports a decidely non-'40s GM 350 CID V8, with a mild Comp Cams bumpstick, double hump heads, a Holley aluminum intake, Edelbrock 4BBL carb, and coated shorty headers. Power Steering and A/C are added benefits; along with a massive HD radiator with twin pull fans behind it and a big pusher fan at the front. Certainly this is one sleeper rod that will run long and cool. The 350 has less than 5000 miles on it since it was built, and it and the GM TH350 3-peed auto trans work seamlessly with the 3.08:1-equipped GM 12-bolt posi rear end to get this thing up to speed quickly. When you want to scrub off that speed, the front disk/rear drum brake combo work in tandem to haul things down quickly. When you come to a stop, you'll appreciate the menacing rumble that the custom dual exhaust with FlowMaster mufflers provide, and so will your audience at the cruise-ins you'll be frequenting in this stylish "old gal with the young heart"! Moving to the inside, you'll appreciate the craftsmanship that went into the restoration of the interior. Using modern materials, but keeping the vintage motif, the interior looks as though it could have been original, but it's obviously a modernized upgrade of the fabrics that it would have had. In keeping with the accent color of the exterior, the maroon synthetic leather-trimmed cloth seats and all carpeting coordinate nicely with the exterior. Occupants will appreciate the extra space in the back, and everyone will enjoy the air-conditioned comfort that this baby provides. The AM/FM/CD head unit provides your choice of audio. Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is excited to offer this very unique 1940 Ford Super Deluxe Flower Car once again. If you're scratching your head thinking "I've never seen one of those before!" It's probably because you most likely have not. This 1940 Ford Deluxe was produced by the Ford Motor Company and then converted by The Eureka Manufacturing Company of Rock Falls Illinois into a flower car. Essentially starting out as a 5-window coupe, the conversion lengthened the chassis and the convertible rear casket compartment was created with metal rollers and pins to store the side rails that would hold flowers in place. This car had a dual use of being enclosed with the original canvas cover for the less elaborate funerals and having the rear compartment cover removed and side rails installed for a more elaborate send off. Flower cars were popular during the middle of the century and now are rarely seen in modern funerals. While most if not all of these conversions done by Eureka were on General Motors vehicles this one being a Ford and not a Packard or Cadillac makes this highly obscure and is believed to be the only one ever made. This car was purchased new in 1940 and check out the original photos of the car being delivered. Now fast forward 78 years and you will notice that not much has really changed. This is an original, unmolested, unrestored car that still retains the original paint, original canvas cover, original interior and powertrain.
