The Riviera name has been used by Buick to denote prestige versions of existing models since 1949 and saw its debut as a stand-alone model in 1963. The name Riviera is Latin for “coastline” and was chosen to evoke an image of affluence. The sixth generation of the vehicle saw a transition to front wheel drive and was named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year. This beautiful 1985 Riviera Convertible marked the final year of this design. Very few soft-top models were sold between 1982-1985 given the relatively high sticker price for the day. Only two color choices were offered – cream ivory or red firemist with burgundy leather interiors. A turbocharged Riveria Convertible was chosen to be the pace car at the 1983 Indianapolis 500. The owner of this Cream Ivory/Burgundy survivor states 47,604 actual miles and features include 5.0 L V-8 engine paired with a 3-speed TH-325 automatic transmission. Options include a power top, power seats, cruise control and a tilt steering wheel. The 1985 Buick Riviera is located at our Milwaukee showroom.
