Gateway classic cars is proud to present this beautifully restored 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL convertible coupe that has all the bells & whistles. The 280 SL was introduced in December 1967, and continued in production through 23 February 1971. Over the years, the W 113 platform evolved from a sports car into a comfortable grand tourer.
This 280 SL has undergone a complete full restoration from the inside out from top to bottom. The engine & transmission were rebuilt 3 years ago, and since then only 15 miles have been put on the car. The car also has a recent & beautifully done paint job which makes it a real show-stopper. This 280 SL has the rebuilt 2.8L Inline 6 cylinder, mated up to a 4-speed automatic transmission that provides smooth gear changes with a strong RPM power band. The interior is also in excellent condition with every inch of it being in like new condition. This is a clear #2 “excellent” on the Hagerty scale as attention to each detail was carefully executed.
Options on this car include AC (blows colds! - R134a system), power steering, power brakes, Vinyl interior, AM/FM radio, & new aluminum wheels. This car is a centerpiece of our Houston showroom and would be a very nice addition to your collection, or to a first-time collector car buyer! Included with the sale is the removeable hard top.
