1963 Ford Falcon

Engine: Inline 6
Transmission: 2 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 4814 ( undocumented )

Now for sale in our Gateway Classic Cars of Houston showroom is this awesome Ford Falcon from 1963. This was the final year for the first generation of the North American Falcon. This Falcon is powered by the inline 6 cylinder Mileage Maker engine that Ford designed to achieve a staggering 30mpg! The Falcon went on to be the basis for which the legendary Mustang was based. The Falcon Sprint was a limited production version of the Falcon which was nearly mechanically identical to the 1964 ½ Mustang. With a length of 181 inches and a wheelbase of 109.5, the Falcon was one of Ford’s smaller vehicles. Construction was unibody and suspension was fairly standard with coil springs in the front and lead springs in the rear. Brakes were drums all around and a the two-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission was an additional option from the 3-speed manual that was the base transmission. The market shift which spurred the development of the Falcon and it’s competitors also precipitated the demise of several well-established marques in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Edsel, Nash, Hudson, DeSoto and Packard nameplates all disappeared from the marketplace. Robert McNamara, a Ford executive who became Ford's president briefly before being offered the job of U.S. Defense Secretary, is regarded by many as "the father of the Falcon". McNamara left Ford shortly after the Falcon's introduction, but his faith in the concept was vindicated with record sales; over half a million sold in the first year and over a million sold by the end of the second year. This is a survivor car and should be appreciated as such. It hasn’t been modernized like many have been. You will find an AM radio, hub caps and radial tires. You will be pleased to know that the headlights, brights, turn signals, parking lights, reverse lights, wipers, brake lights, gauges, radio, heat and horn all work! This 1963 Ford Falcon is for sale in our Houston Showroom and can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. The Falcon was offered in two-door and four-door sedan, two-door and four-door station wagon, two-door hardtop, convertible, sedan delivery and Ranchero pickup body configurations. Futura Convertible and Futura Sports Convertible models were also included in the 1963 range. Later, hardtops, and the new "Sprint" model were introduced. Halfway through the model year (February 1963), the Fairlane's 164 HP "Challenger" 260 CID V8 engine was offered for the first time. 1964 Ford Falcon Ranchero

Engine: 351 W V8
Transmission: David Kee Toploader 4 Speed
Mileage: 4192 ( undocumented )

Built up right and ready to take whatever you throw at it! This beast of a Ranchero has had a great deal of time and money put into it to make it as reliable as possible and perform with the best. The Ford Ranchero was the first of its kind putting a bed on the same platform as the Ford’s popular sedan of the day and was first introduced back in 1957. This ranchero is part of the second generation which shares the same front end as the Ford Falcon. Sitting under the hood of this 1964 Ranchero is an engine that has helped solidify the Ford brand in the history books and has been rated as one of the top ten best engines of all time. The 351 Windsor was strong and capable of producing massive amounts of power. This 351 has a few performance parts on it including a lighter and better flowing aluminum intake and some dress up parts including finned aluminum valve covers and a polished aluminum air filter, and aluminum radiator. Putting this engine in the small Falcon platform is a huge upgrade from the factory 289 V8. With the extra horsepower in this vehicle a stronger transmission was necessary and to address this issue a David Kee built 4-speed top loader was installed that can easily handle the power of the larger V8. Keeping all of this power planted is a trick suspension set up including front and rear sway bars, brand new P-S-T Performance front end, Koni shocks on all four corners, traction bars, subframe connectors, Mustang GT front shock towers, and the upgraded 1965 Falcon steering linkage, all poly-graphite bushings, With all of these upgrades you can go into any corner with the upmost confidence. This Ranchero is not just performance orientated though; the interior was upgraded to a very cushy baseball glove leather interior that provides a comfortable ride even on the bumpy roads. The premium stereo system is clear and will blow you away while listening to your favorite classic hits. This 1964 Ranchero is an excellent cruiser and, if you are looking for something that is practical yet fun and reliable this may be the perfect classic for you! This vehicle is located in our Denver showroom. You can view this 1964 Ford Ranchero in greater detail including HD pictures and an HD video of it running and driving at Gatewayclassiccars.com.
