Engine: 351W CID V8Transmission: AutomaticMileage: 59940 ( actual )
For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a 1969 Mercury Cougar. This classic Ford is a nice departure from the more popular Mustang. The Cougar was first produced by Ford in 1967 and gained popularity in 1969. This was the only generation of Cougars to be produced with covered headlights. In 1967 and 1968, they were deployed using a vacuum canister system that opened and closed the headlamp doors. For 1969 and 1970, a redesigned vacuum system kept the doors down when a vacuum condition existed in the lines, provided by the engine when it was running. If a loss of vacuum occurred, the doors would retract up so that the headlights were visible if the system should fail. This changed improved the vehicle’s safety. Let's go back for a second, the year was 1969. Things were changing - Woodstock attracts more than 350,000 rock-n-roll fans, Chappaquiddick Affair Senator Edward Kennedy, PBS Established, The first man is landed on the moon on the Apollo 11 mission by the United States and Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the Moon, and this Cougar was being purchased. Those were the times and driving this classic take you right back! Options include: AC(cool not cold), AM/FM/Cassette, power steering, power brakes, vinyl interior, vinyl hardtop, and Grand AM Radial GT tires. This wonderful car is a 2-owner and recent upgrades includes: New vinyl top, new paint job, rebuilt engine and more. Having only 59,940 actual miles, this Cougar is a wise investment and piece of Americana. Classic cars are historically better investments than stocks and bonds. Also, you cannot take your stock portfolio for a spin on sunny days! The styling of this Cougar is timeless. With its shaving razor grill, car enthusiasts will know exactly what is coming their way. To view the car in greater detail, including an HD video and 100+ HD pictures, please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com or our St. Louis showroom. Call 618-271-3000 for more details.

Engine: 351 CID Windsor V8Transmission: FMX 3 Speed AutomaticMileage: 38800 ( undocumented )
For Sale in our Detroit Showroom is this awesome 1970 Mercury Cougar. 1967 was the very first year that Mercury released the Cougar line which was largely based on the Mustang; however the Cougar was not just a dolled up Mustang. It was actually a tad longer than the Mustang and had subtle changes throughout. The 351 Windsor V8 packs a punch and, paired with the automatic FMX transmission, this Cougar is ready to drive anywhere!Over the past decade there has been lots of time and energy invested into this car to make it a car that can be relied upon to take out on the weekends and to car shows. The vinyl interior is in great shape thanks to recent restoration and will keep you comfortable no matter how long your cruise is. As you sit behind the wheel, turn the key and fire up the small block, this classic Cougar comes alive! The FMX transmission was rebuilt less than a year ago and transitions nicely between gears and allows the driver to focus on the cruise. The ride is smooth and soaks up all bumps in the road thanks to new upper control arms and front springs which are 2” lower than the stock ride height, and once you settle in, turn on the AM/FM radio and lose yourself in a different era. This 1970 Cougar is the perfect car for someone looking for a classic that will stand out from the crowd at any show that it is taken to! This vehicle is located in our Detroit showroom. You can view this 1970 Mercury Cougar in greater detail including HD pictures and an HD video of it running and driving at Gatewayclassiccars.com.
