1949 MG YT Tourer

1949 MG YT Tourer

Engine: 1250cc 4 cylinder
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Mileage: 1,946 ( undocumented )

We are excited to have for sale in our Gateway Classic Car Saint Louis Showroom is a very rare 1949 MG YT 2DR Tourer Convertible. BACKGROUND: Only 904 YT’s were built for export to the United States from 1947 to 1950. The MG YT cars used rack and pinion steering, which was a rarely seen option for a car in America at the time. This particular MG YT fires right up and purrs just like a kitten. It runs and drives very well and is ready for a new owner to drive and enjoy it as often as desired. It is utilizing the same engine as the TC, a 1250cc 4 cylinder, but with a higher compression and two 1 BBL carburetors producing 54.4 horsepower and 64 lb-ft of torque. The independent front suspension setup features unequal length A-arms and coil springs to provide valuable feedback to the driver. Also standard were drum brakes and 16 inch wheels on all four corners. The chassis on the YT utilized a steel ladder frame, it was often and incorrectly said to be made of wood. What was made of wood, most of which was oak, was the framework on which the bodywork was hung. The MG YT Touring Convertible has 2 doors and seats 4 passengers. The interior features leather upholstery and wood grain accents, which was much more refined than the earlier MG T-Series sports cars. This YT body is finished in light beige with metallic brown fenders, and a dark brown cloth convertible top. The exterior color combination beautifully matches the beige leather interior with dark brown piping throughout. The odometer reads 1,946, but the actual mileage is unknown. Options for this 1949 MG YT 2DR Tourer Convertible include: Leather Upholstery, Manual Convertible Top, Wide White Wall Bias Ply Tires, and Hub Caps. To view this 1949 MG YT in greater detail, including HD pictures and an HD video, visit www.GatewayClassicCars.com or our St. Louis Showroom. 1949 MG TC

1949 MG TC

Engine: 76.3ci/54hp
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 2,574 ( undocumented )

For sale in our Atlanta showroom is this 1949 MG TC. This car will give you the full experience of fine British motoring. The red interior and red exterior shows how good this MG has been cared for over the years. It is un-restored and in original condition with matching numbers and only 31921 miles. That is about as good as you may find in an example of an original MG TC. Twin SU- semi-down draught carburetors, 1250cc 4 cylinders and 54.4hp at 5200rmp puts you right in the middle of what it means to drive. It has always been garage kept in its 67 years of life with just a few minor paint imperfections which are expected because of it age. She is a real head turner. The TC Midget was the first postwar MG launched in 1945. It was quite similar to the pre-war TB, sharing the same 1,250 cc pushrod-OHV engine with a slightly higher compression ratio of 7.4:1 giving 54.5 bhp at 5200 rpm. The MG TC was exported to the United States, even though only ever built in right-hand drive. The export version had slightly smaller US specification sealed-beam headlights and larger twin rear lights, as well as turn signals and chrome-plated front and rear bumpers. The body was approximately 4 inches wider than the TB and measured at the rear of the doors to give more cockpit space. The tachometer was directly in front of the driver, while the speedometer was on the other side of the dash in front of the passenger. Options include: Bias ply tires, leather interior, wire wheels, and a convertible manual top. To view the car in greater detail, including 100+ HD photos and HD video, please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com. 1954 MG TF

1954 MG TF

Engine: 1250cc I4
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 66,362 ( undocumented )

Owned by the same family since 1964, this MG TF has been well taken care of and is ready to be driven and enjoyed by a new owner! The MG TF was one of the last years of the long running body design that started in 1936 and had subtle changes made throughout the years. This TF features a 1,250cc inline 4 cylinder engine pushing out roughly 58 horsepower from the factory and a 4-Speed manual transmission. This drivetrain in such a small car was sufficient to bring it up to speed and put enough pep in its step to be truly enjoyable driving experience. This MG has recently had some tune up work done including going through the braking system and has no problem stopping quickly and safely. The battery and fuel pump were also replaced adding to the reliability and a muffler replaced to quiet the ride down. The driving experience in this car is very unique as you sit in the driver’s seat you feel one with the car due to the tight quarters. All of the gauges are laid out to be easily monitored and as you drive, the car feels very predictable. There is something special about riding around in a vintage British roadster. With the top down and your driving gloves on you will be transported into a different era and get lost in your cruise! 1962 MG Midget

1962 MG Midget

Engine: 1275cc
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 60,789 ( undocumented )

A 1275cc engine with a Pertronix ignition and Datsun 210 5-speed manual transmission this MG Midget is ready to take on any winding mountain road, or just cruising down the highway! All this little roadster needs, is a new home. With a rear end gear ratio of 4.22:1 and an overdrive gear it is quick off the line and still can reach higher speeds with ease. The disc brake conversion on this car is able to round off the build, making it an excellent driving machine! The first version, announced at the end of June, 1961, was essentially a slightly more expensive badge-engineered version of the MkII Austin-Healey Sprite. The original 'frogeye' Sprite had been introduced specifically to fill the gap in the market left by the end of production of the MG T-type Midget as its replacement, the MGA had been a significantly larger and more expensive car with greater performance. Mechanically the car was identical to its Austin-Healey counterpart, retaining the rear suspension using quarter-elliptic leaf springs and trailing arms from the 'frogeye'. Brakes were 7-inch drums all round. A hard top, heater, radio and luggage rack were available as factory-fitted extras. In October, 1962, the engine was increased to 1098 cc, raising the output to 56 HP 62 lb⋅ft, and disc brakes replaced the drums at the front. Wire spoked wheels became available. The doors had no external handles or locks and the windows were sliding Perspex side-screens. To view the car in greater detail, including an HD video and 100+ HD pictures please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com or our Denver showroom. 1964 MG MGB

1964 MG MGB

Engine: 4 Cylinder
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual w/ Overdrive
Mileage: 1,600 ( since rebuilt )

With only 1,600 miles on a freshly rebuilt drivetrain and a stack of receipts detailing the rebuild and restoration, this 1964 MG B is one of the nicest examples left! The stock 1.8L inline 4-cylinder and 4-speed manual transmission have been professionally rebuilt and fires right up. The stock 91 horsepower in this car was enough to get this little British roadster up to a top speed of 103mph and handles exceptionally well! Something else very unique to this car is that 3rd gear as well as 4th gear have an overdrive option that will help keep your rpm's lower no matter what speed. The recently reupholstered black interior looks great and will keep you comfortable on the longer drives. The black interior compliments the stunning red exterior well and will turn heads where ever it goes. As you slide in, fire it up and start to cruise you will be amazed at how capable this car feels. The low stance and light weight allow it to dart around easily but is not so rigid that it is a rough ride. If you are looking for a fun roadster that you can take out on a long weekend cruise or just down to the local car show, this MG B is an excellent option for you! A great deal of time and money has been put into this MG to get it ready for the next owner. This vehicle is located in our Denver showroom. Engine: 110 CID I4
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Mileage: 78,611 ( undocumented )

Now available in our Philadelphia location is a 1973 MG MGB Roadster. There are only a handful of cars that can deliver this driving experience. Thirty years after the last Bs rolled out of MG’s factory in Abingdon, there’s room for a fresh perspective. Instead of knocking MG for falling behind the times, we might recognize the company for keeping the British sports car alive. These efforts were not in vain, as the later Bs sold respectably in the United States. There may have been faster and more modern cars on the market, but the rubber-bumper MGB offered the traditional thrills of a British roadster to a whole new generation. This one is in classic White with a black vinyl interior and convertible top. It has a four-speed transmission that delivers that true driving experience. In the mid 70’s these cars were a popular choice with young America. They were known for their economical gas mileage and maintenance schedule and were a common sight on the road. This little roadster has allot left in the tank and will give its new owners plenty of enjoyment. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard, and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. A parcel shelf was fitted behind the seats. This MGB has money and an owners love poured into maintaining a great running and driving MG. With only 60000 actual miles on this little Gem, this MGB will provide years of enjoyment. This MGB has been refreshed by the owner with an all new interior, so you can drive this British motorcar legend with confidence and enjoyment. Options include: AM/FM radio with CD player, manual convertible top, seat belts, vinyl interior, factory steel wheels wrapped radial tires. 1979 MG MGB

1979 MG MGB

Engine: 4-Cyl
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Mileage: 16,248 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is proud to offer a beautiful little 1979 MG B. MG produced Bs from 1962 all the way until 1980. There were subtle changes throughout the years, but the basic layout remained the same: a 4-cylinder engine up front, manual transmission in the middle, and power delivered to the rear wheels. These lightweight cars are popular with driving enthusiasts and even make great racecars. This particular example is finished in a snappy shade of bright orange which looks just as right on the car today as it did in ’79. The interior is very clean and features nice black vinyl upholstery and a simple dashboard with driver focused controls. Equipment is sparse, but you do get a stereo and full instrumentation. The convertible top and windows are operated the old-fashioned way which is all part of the fun of a car like this. Pop the hood and you’ll find a simple and reliable 4-cylinder engine. The engine compartment of this car is quite presentable and retains a fairly factory appearance. The shifter falls to hand perfectly and the car rows through the gears wonderfully. Whether you plan on blasting the backroads, hopping on the track for a vintage racing experience, or simple cruising around town, the MG B is a wonderful car to handle the task. What a wonderful way to enter the classic car hobby! You can see this lovely 1979 MG B in greater detail in our Chicago showroom or at www.GatewayClassicCars.com.
