1999 Plymouth Prowler

1999 Plymouth Prowler

Engine: 3.5L V6 SOHC
Transmission: 4 Speed Automatic with Over Drive
Mileage: 17,605 ( actual )

The idea of this 1999 Plymouth Prowler started back in May of 1990 with the words “hot rod-style retro car” written on a note card. That led to a one-fifth-scale model and a sketch of a concept, which caught the eye of the Chrysler president Bob Lutz. Lutz ordered the building of a fully functional prototype, which was the car that got shown in Detroit. The reaction from the public was overwhelming! By September 1994, the green light was given to building the Prowler in limited numbers, with the goal of reviving the Plymouth brand as the Viper had done for Dodge. Corporate parts bins were raided for some of the Prowler’s components, including the 3.5L SOHC V6 and 4-speed “AutoStick” automatic transaxle from the Chrysler LHS and 300M. But utilizing the drivetrain from a front-wheel-drive vehicle in the rear-drive Prowler required great innovation, with the transaxle being modified and mounted in the rear, as with the C5 and C6 Corvettes. The Prowler foundation is an aluminum frame fabricated from the latest alloys. The body is also made of aluminum and sheet-formed plastic, joined together with a new compression fastening process. Suspension components are also aluminum, using a new forging process, and the front suspension was based on a Formula 1-like pushrod design that hid the coil-over shocks inside the body. All off the efforts put into new materials and manufacturing truly keep the weight down making this car very fun to try. The 214-hp V6 propels the 2,800-pound Prowler very nicely. (Motor Trend saw 0–60 in 7.1 seconds on a pre-production car). As Chrysler Chairman Bob Eaton said in telling the world that Chrysler would build the Prowler, “It’s for real, and either you get it or you don’t.” This Prowler with a black exterior is 1 of only 779 that were produced in 1999. Along with claiming the title of the world’s only factory-built hot rod, the Prowler may be the only production automobile offered with a matching trailer. Prowlers have only the smallest of trunk space, especially with the top removed, and the $5,000 option offered much-needed room for longer trips — again following hot-rod tradition. When you combine the trailer with the optional factory hard top it makes this even more of a rare find from our friends at Plymouth. You can view this 1999 Plymouth Prowler in greater detail including HD pictures and an HD video of it running and driving at Gatewayclassiccars.com. 1999 Plymouth Prowler

1999 Plymouth Prowler

Engine: 3.5L V6 F SOHC
Transmission: 4-Speed Automatic w/ electric OD
Mileage: 28,190 ( actual )

Now for sale at Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is this sleek 1999 Plymouth Prowler. Between the eye catching paint job and the peppy engine, this car is definitely something you don't see every day. Under the pointed hood of this sweet ride is a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine that runs well and provides plenty of power for this small, agile car. Although the engine only puts out around 250 horsepower, the car is quick thanks to a curb weight under 2,900 pounds. There are few V6 engines that sound very good, but this one sounds great! Sending the power to the rear end is a four-speed automatic transmission that shifts smooth, yet firmly through the gears to provide an engaging driving experience. Overall, the powertrain of this car feels solid and does much more with its power than one might expect. Moving inward, the driver will be greeted by a black leather interior thats pretty clean and in good condition. The seats are comfortable and provide good support for cornering and aggressive driving. In the summer time the driver will appreciate the convertible soft top that functions properly without binding. If the driver decides to keep the top up, the cabin will be kept comfortable thanks to air conditioning that blows cold. In the wintertime, the driver will appreciate the heat. This car also has convenience features including a radio/CD player, cruise control, power locks, tilt wheel, keyless entry, power mirrors, and an anti-theft system. Overall, the interior is comfortable, but can get cramped for anyone over 6'1". Moving outward, the extior is finished in a custom two tone burnt orange/ silver paintjob with ghosted orange flames using DuPont paint products. The pain is in decent condition with some imperfection, but nothing too major. The soft top is also in decent condition, especially for its age. The car sits atop chrome alloy wheels wrapped in rubber with decent tread life left. Overall, the car is in pretty good shape and drives well. 1973 Plymouth Road Runner

1973 Plymouth Road Runner

Engine: 360
Transmission: 3-Speed Auto
Mileage: 34,828 ( undocumented )

We have a beautiful 1973 Plymouth Road Runner coated in a stunning Blue hue with black vinyl interior. It boasts a 360CI V8 backed by a three speed auto trans. This is a stunning vehicle that deserves to be taken out on the road or to a local car show. The 1973-74 models received completely new sheet metal and had more conventional squared-up front-end styling and changes to the rear that more closely resembled the four-door models than the 71-72s. In addition, the interior options included retaining power seats and windows as well as offering plusher carpeting and seat covers, moving the car to a slightly higher level of luxury. The restyling helped sales which were up 40% over the 1972 models. In testing 1/4 mile times were getting close to the 16s, top speeds had dropped to barely over 125 mph (201 km/h), and the car moved further away from "musclecar" status. The base engine for the 1973-74 models had dropped down to Chrysler's workaday 318 CID V8 but equipped with dual exhausts which bumped the power up to 170 hp (127 kW). After 1972, no 440 with four-speed manual cars were built. The code E68 400 cu in 260 hp engine was the biggest Plymouth offered with the 4-speed, which could also be had with the 340 (1973), and 360 (1974) engines. The 318 was equipped with a 3-speed manual transmission as standard (though very few were built), and the TorqueFlite as an option, though at least one 318 engine 1974 car was built with the 4-speed manual transmission equipped with a Hurst shifter. The 440 cu in engine, boasting 280 hp was still available for 1973 and 1974, but only mated to the 727 TorqueFlite automatic, with 3.55 sure-grip 8 3/4 rear axle gearing available. This vehicle is located in our Milwaukee showroom. You can view this beautiful 1973 Plymouth Road Runner in greater detail including HD pictures and an HD video of it running and driving at Gatewayclassiccars.com. Now for sale in our Houston showroom is this one-of-a-kind Hemi Orange 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda. Fresh out of a 3-year restoration, with parts accumulated as far back as the beginnings of its owner's planning stages 8 years ago, this car is a complete nut-and-bolt build. Under the hood is one beastly Elephant. Starting with a fresh Indy Cylinder Head-built 770HP 572 CID Hemi, built from a World Iron Hemi block with 4.5 x 4.5 bore and stroke, stuffed with top-of-the line Diamond 10.75:1 pistons atop forged Eagle 7.1/2.2 H-Beam rods, connected to a Forged Eagle crankshaft, and topped with a set of 426-S/R Aluminum Hemi Heads sporting 2.25 intake and 1.94 exhaust valves, this thing will wrinkle pavement. Chrome Moly retainers with 7-degree locks keep the valvetrain in check under the MP Roller Rocker Arms (1.57 and 1.52 intake-exhaust ratios, respectively). A Comp Cams .574/.551 cam with 242/248 duration and a 110-degree lobe center provides tons of torque through the powerband, and a very healthy lope. Indy Cylinder Head cast valve covers with custom "572" engraving fitted with Keith Black breathers, and a Mopar Performance dual-plane single 4bbl intake with an 850 CFM Mighty Demon Carb with mechanical secondaries sit atop the massive mill, while a Milodon 30930 8-quart deep sump oil pan complete with windage tray keeps the vital Brad Penn oil ready to flow foam-free throughout the crankcase. An MSD Pro Billet distributor and MSD coil send MSD 6AL-boosted spark to each cylinder through ICH Fire Core plug wires, ensuring complete and massive fuel ignition. A custom heavy duty hydraulic clutch grabs the billet steel flywheel, which is housed in a titanium bellhousing mated to a specially-built Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission, sending the twist out back via a special HD Dom steel driveshaft to the Strange Engineering-built Dana 60 rear end with 3.54:1 gears and limited slip differential. An LPW Racing aluminum differential cover (rear-end girdle) keeps things where they should be in the third member and helps maximize gear life and performance. Slip inside into the pilot seat, and you'll feel like you were back in 1971, only better! An all new interior, complete with new door panels, carpet, etc.; along with new leather seating all around (done by Legendary Leather), fills your nostrils with the scent of fine hides and "new car"...until you fire it up...but, we'll get to that part in a minute...Gaze at the new dash, filled with NOS gauges behind the vintage 'Cuda steering wheel on the adjustable steering column, and you'll note that this baby has only a tick over 1000 miles on it. Let your right hand slip down to the pistol grip shift knob atop the Hurst Competition Plus short-throw shifter, and you'll be itchin' to fire it up, with your anticipation going into overdrive about hearing this beast come to life. Go ahead, twist the key in the ignition, and IT'S ALIVE! The mighty Elephant roars to life, and quickly settles to a lopey burble. You'll practically feel the spent fossils exiting the exhaust ports into the custom TTI Ceramic-coated headers (coated both internally and externally), as the gigantic 2 1/8" primaries suck the gases from the engine into the full 3" stainless dual exhaust system, exiting from the "through the valance" exhaust tips out back. While you're anticipating the carnage you're going to wreak on the massive 295/50R15 BFG Radial TA tires (on new vintage 15"x10" 'Cuda wheels) out back, tune in your favorite station on the 'Cuda radio (a new Antique Auto Radio head unit), switch on the GEN IV Vintage A/C to max cool (because YOU are now "Max Cool" in this gnarly ride), depress the clutch and slip it into first of the five gears you're getting ready to grab, and BOOM - you're off! As you hit the asphalt, you'll feel how well the car handles, with its special rate springs and QA1 shocks at each corner. Adding to the improved driving feel from the shocks and springs, are the tubular control arms with all new bushings, sway bars, upper and lower ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, and new steering gear box (by Firm Feel), all contributing to making this car drive with a smooth and tight feel. If you launch hard, you'll feel how well the fully-welded subframes and Caltracs traction bars keep the power down and the body straight. If you decide to explore the velocity limits of this mighty Hemi Orange 'Cuda, you'll be glad to know you have a full Wilwood 4-wheel disc brake system, complete with Hydra-boost, to haul you down quickly and fade-free. While the Vintage A/C keeps you cool, the massive HD Racing aluminum radiator and twin electric fans do their part to help the HD aluminum water pump moving cooler coolant through the mighty 572, making for a trouble-free drive. Its black-powder-coated serpentine pulley system keeps things tidy in the engine bay and provides greater precision in belt alignment and more uniform operation of pulley-driven accessories. Options on this '71 Hemi 'Cuda for sale include: AM/FM Stereo Radio, Air Conditioning, Custom Leather Interior, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Seat Belts, and Tilt Steering Wheel. 1970 Plymouth Barracuda

1970 Plymouth Barracuda

Engine: 432 CID V8
Transmission: 5 Speed Manual
Mileage: 1,435 ( since rebuilt )

This 1970 Plymouth Barracuda started out life as 1 of 602 that were with the HP383 mated to a 4-Speed manual transmission. Starting in 1983 the car had been stored inside keeping it rust free helping it keep the sheet metal all original! Fast forward to 2014 and the start of the rotisserie restoration that left no bolt untouched. Rallye Red paint adorns the smooth panels and has a great buttery gloss to it. There's no denying that this car was built to look fast, a benefit of Chrysler's delay in developing the E-body twins to combat the Camaro and Mustang, and it's probably why the 'Cuda remains a perennial favorite. When the car was ordered it was special ordered with the 3.91 Sure Grip rear end. Also included in the “Cuda” options was the Rallye red paint, elastomeric bumpers front and rear, Rallye mirrors, Rallye bubble hood, Rallye instrument cluster, as well as a Rim-Blow steering wheel. Rounding out the great appeal of this car as it rolls down the road is a set of 18” U.S. Mag alloy wheels wrapped in 255/45R18 radial tires. There is no doubt that this is one of the most desirable muscle cars that the big three has produced and one of the arguably best years it was produced! Opening the dual scooped hood gives you a small peek at some of the modern upgrades that help bring this classic to life. Keeping the stroked 432 cubic inch V8 cool is an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans while pushing 400 horsepower. Feeding the fuel to this Mopar is an MSD Atomic throttle body EFI. Tasked with igniting all of that fuel is a complete MSD ignition system including a 6AL box. Breathing all of the exhaust out of this setup is a set of TTI ceramic headers and full Pypes dual exhaust complete with rectangular exhaust tips. Transferring all of that go fast power to the 8-3/4” rear end is a brand new Tremec 600 Five speed manual transmission rated to handle up to 600 horsepower. While it is a modern transmission it sports the correct pistol grip shifter for the era which no true Mopar of the time should be without. When we said not bolt was left untouched during the restoration we truly ment NO BOLT! When you look under this heart pounding muscle car you’ll find an undercarriage that matches the quality of the exterior. Hotchkis subframe connectors help insure all of that power does not hurt any of the beautiful body work. Tasked with bringing this car to a stop is a set of 4-wheel Willwood disc brakes as well as Hotchkis fully tuned shocks help keep traction while starting or stopping. A complete UniSteer power rack & pinion setup makes steering this car a dream. The look and feel of this black interior is the way this car was ordered and is a great combination of new and original components. The original dash remains intact and restored but now houses a complete set of Dakota digital gauges helping make sure all of the vitals of this car are monitored as accurately as possible. They also reveal that 1,437 miles have been driven since the restoration was completed. One of my personal favorite parts of this Barracuda is the wood rimmed steering wheel that is complete with the “fish” insignia. Engine: 440 Six-Pack V-8 Big Block
Transmission: 3-Speed Automatic
Mileage: 63,502 ( actual )

We are tremendously proud to offer for sale this first generation 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner. It is available for viewing and inquiry at our Gateway Classic Cars Showroom in Saint Louis. One thing that should really excite you about this Mopar is the recently completed exterior paint job. The high-satin-gloss purple paint with gold stripes makes this Plymouth Roadrunner look strikingly royal. On the passenger-side rear there is a classic Plymouth Road Runner Standing Bird decal. There are just a couple minor imperfections that might withhold it from being truly award-winning show car quality, but for the uninitiated there is nothing pure joy to behold here. Similarly, the interior has been very well-kept, with just a couple things to prove that it is an original. The white vinyl interior is nice and tight and shows extremely little wear. The headliner is clean and doesn't show any stains, tears, or smoke damage. The dash looks original and does not show signs of normal aging or fading from exposure to the sun. Underneath the air-grabber hood is a 440 Six Pack V8 with only 63,502 miles which are believed to be actual to the car. Built from 1967 to 1971, the 440 Six Pack is a high-performance engine that has light wall construction, precision cast-iron block, and iron heads. This Roadrunner is a beast class muscle car that you can immediately enjoy. 1970 Plymouth Road Runner

Engine: 426 Hemi
Transmission: 727 Torque Flite
Mileage: 67,628 ( undocumented )

This 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner with a HEMI is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The Roadrunner was introduced in 1968 as MOPAR’s entry level midsize muscle car. For the small charge of 50000 Warner Brothers allowed Plymouth to use not only the Roadrunner image but the classic beep, beep for the horn. This real deal RM21 roadrunner is ready for the street or the show. A frame off restoration was done in 2005 giving this Roadrunner a new lease on life. The original 383 engine was put to the side with a 426/465HP HEMI making this B Body a pavement shredding monster. The MOPAR purple cam gives the HEMI those added ponies and an idle that is unmistakable. The 833 4 speed is original to the car with it being rebuilt to handle all that power. The 8.75 pose rear end has a set of 3.23 gears giving the car a good mix of off the line acceleration and highway cruising. Painted back its original color of light blue metallic except this time using a base coat clear coat giving it a much deeper finish. The N96 Air Grabber hood was an original option on the car and has to be one of the coolest things to be put out by MOPAR. The interior was restored back its original glory with the bucket seat console being a rare option on these cars. The white vinyl is clean and a great contrast against the black dash and carpet. The pistol grip shifter is another one of those classic MOPAR touches and exactly what you would expect in 1970. If you have been wanting to get your hands on one of the most iconic cars of the era this Roadrunner is a great choice. Options on this 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner include; AM Radio, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, and Custom Wheels with Radial Tires. 1970 Plymouth Duster

Engine: 340 Four Barrel V8
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 30,380 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars Ft. Lauderdale showroom is proud to offer this one of one 1970 Moulin Rouge and Black Plymouth Duster. This Duster is the only one known to exist with this color combo. The Duster coupe provided the compact sized Plymouth Valiant with a sporty body style. The Valiant badge only appeared on the first model year Dusters. Built on the Valiant platform, they shared the same front end, but had a different design from the cowl back. Designed to compete with The Ford Maverick, the AMC Hornet, Nova, and oddly enough the VW Beetle. This beautifully restored 1970 Duster is a matching numbers masterpiece. And was featured in Mopar Magazines April 2005 edition. With all the factory markings reapplied to the finished restoration. Every grease pencil mark and paint splotch went back where the factory placed them. At the 2004 All Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle, this 1970 Duster occupied a place of honor in the invitational building along with other illustrious factory show cars. The Black vinyl interior looks as good as new and feels just as comfortable. One very rarely finds a muscle era Mopar with a contrasting color painted roof. Powered by the original 340 V8, mated to a four speed with the shifter placed before a black bench seat. A 3.55 Sure Grip rear end makes it easy to light up the F70-14 Polyglas tires on the 14” Ralleys. This one of a kind 1970 Plymouth Duster is an absolute blast to drive and will most likely get more attention that any vehicle it pulls up next to. Options on this magnificent 1970 Plymouth Duster include AM/FM Radio, Power Brakes, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, and Rally Wheels. This 1970 Plymouth Duster is located in our FT. Lauderdale Showroom and can be seen in greater detail, including a High Def video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. 1970 Plymouth Cuda Tribute

1970 Plymouth Cuda Tribute

Engine: 426 CID V8
Transmission: 3-Speed Automatic
Mileage: 100,283 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars is pleased to offer this heavy hitter, a 1970 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda tribute located at our showroom in West Deptford, NJ! Shedding its Valiant roots, the Plymouth Barracuda entered the scene with a brand-new look in 1970. Featuring a radical restyling on the new E-Body platform, this car was ready to do battle against GM and Ford pony car contenders in performance and style. The challenging task of fitting Chrysler’s 426 Hemi engine into the previous A-Body Barracudas was one of the main reasons a redesign of the car was necessary. The Hemi fit like a glove in the new E-Body thanks to the larger cowl structure and all was set to rock the muscle car world. This incredible Hemi ‘Cuda tribute continues the legend from the powerplant to the paint! Nothing was left untouched during the extensive restoration by Clark Classic Restorations in Greenville, NC. While it started life as a 318 Barracuda, this car underwent an unparalleled transformation into the performance machine you see now. Utilizing original sheet metal, the body was mounted on a rotisserie where the real work began. A gorgeous coat of Lemon Twist Yellow paint was applied along with the sporty hockey-stripe bodyside stripes that accentuate the performance aspect of the Plymouth ‘Cuda. The heart and soul of the car, the fully-built 426 CID V8 Hemi crate engine rumbles with authority through Mandrel® bent exhaust and ceramic long tube headers. Linked to the powerplant is a Mancini Racing® 727 automatic transmission that shifts beautifully thanks to an iconic pistol grip slap-stik shifter. Press on the gas to feel that familiar launch found only with a Big Block Mopar! That’s a Mancini Racing® Dana 60 9 ¾ rear with 3.54 gears! 1970 Plymouth Cuda

1970 Plymouth Cuda

Engine: 440 CID V8 Six Pack
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Mileage: 14,950 ( actual )

For sale in our Nashville showroom is a 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda 440 6 pack and by 6 pack I don’t mean Budlight®. This 70 ‘Cuda for sale has everything going for it, it is a numbers matching car, it is the right color, has a 440 CID V8 and a 4 speed manual transmission which is controlled by a Hurst® pistol grip shifter, it has just under gone a rotisserie restoration and it has less than 15,000 miles on it total only about 300 since complete rebuild. Ok that is the summation, now let’s get to the specifics. Covered in Hemi Orange this 1970 Barracuda for sale looks better than it did sitting on the lot before the first car salesman had a chance to dust off the tires. Looking through the open door and the high-backed bucket seat and Hurst® pistol grip shifter are a dead giveaway to the power lurking under the hood. Once you open the hood the secret is out for anyone who glances as the oval air cleaner is indicative of the 3 two-barrel Holley® carburetors that can’t hide underneath as it is clearly labeled 440 SIX PK. Backing all this muscle is a Dana® 60 rear axle that is more than up to the task of planting all this potential power to the pavement. This ’70 Cuda for sale was purchased by the current owner with less than 15,000 original miles on it. If I had been the original buyer, I would have put that many miles on it on the way home and most if not all of those miles would have been in front of Mustangs and Camaros! If you are looking for a car that will bring the “oooh’s “and “AAAAAhhh’s” at your local car shows, is fun to drive and almost certainly be worth more in 5 years than it is today then stop looking and start dialing. Options for this 1970 Cuda SIX pack for sale include: AM radio, Seat belts, Vinyl interior, Posi traction, Rally rims and Bias ply tires. This Barracuda is a breeze to drive thanks to its power steering and power brakes. Inside the engine bay is clean enough to eat off of. The good doesn’t stop there. 1969 Plymouth Road Runner

1969 Plymouth Road Runner

Engine: 440 CID V8
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 50,765 ( undocumented )

One of the most iconic Mopar muscle cars of all time is the 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner in Vitamin C Orange. This car was originally built at the Lynch Road assembly plant in Detroit with a scheduled production date of April 26, 1969. Making it a 1969 ½ and one of 422 that were built with the 440-6bbl as well as an A833 4-Speed manual transmission. Do not let the cartoon bird on the car’s body panels fool you, this car means business and is not to be taken lightly. If cars could tell tales we are more than certain that any car that dared line up next to this one was sure to see a set of tail lights through its windshield in no time! The factory steel long quarter panels are ripple-free and still showcase that neat slash of relief along the upper edge. Panel gaps are good, and the monstrous hood scoop sits in the middle of a satin black hood designed to emulate the mighty A-12 cars that terrorized drag strips in late 1969. The interior is quite stock and while it emulates a no-frills attitude, the bench seat has a very handsome look. There's a 4-speed shifter sticking out of the floor so there's no weight-adding console to slow you down and it's topped with a proper pistol-grip handle! The factory gauges include an in-dash tachometer and work just as great as they work and serve almost as a glimpse into a time machine. What truly sets this Road Runner apart from other cars of its time is the numbers matching 440 cubic inch V8 punching out 390 horsepower. Topping off that power plant is the much sought after six pack. Inhaling through that giant scoop, the bright Hemi Orange torque factory looks ready for show and still retains the factory look. The 4-speed manual transmission feeds a bulletproof Dana 60 rear end, which houses a set of 4:00 gears. You can view this 1969 ½ Plymouth Road Runner in greater detail including HD pictures and an HD video of it running and driving at Gatewayclassiccars.com.
