1940 Buick Special Coupe

1940 Buick Special Coupe

Engine: 248 ci
Transmission: 3 Speed Manual
Mileage: 46,785 ( undocumented )

Our Atlanta Showroom is proud have this 1940 Buick Special Coupe for sale. The Buick Straight-eight engine (Fireball 8) was produced from 1931 to 1953 and sold in Buick automobiles, replacing the Buick Straight-6 engine across the board in all models in 1931. Like many American automobile makers, Buick adopted the straight-8 engine in 1931 as a more powerful alternative to the previous engines. However, unlike most other car makers at the time, Buick had been using a valve-in-head/OHV overhead valve design or I-head since its inception and continued this practice in their inline-8 designs. When introduced in 1940 the new Series 50 Super featured the cutting-edge "torpedo" C-body. When combined with a column mounted shift lever the cars offered true six passenger comfort, changes that had clearly been influenced by the Cadillac Sixty Special. The basic formula for the 1940 to 1952 Super was established by mating the Roadmaster's longer behind the engine cowl body to the Series 40 Special's smaller straight-eight engine and consequently shorter engine compartment. This led to an economical combination of voluminous passenger room and relatively good fuel economy. This 2 door model had a frame off restoration about 10 years ago. The car was completely disassembled stripped and repainted. The owner laid down 12k to paint this time capsule and put in all new rubber, glass, chrome wheels, new interior with high quality leather, and all new brakes. There was over $50,000 invested in the restoration. The Buick starts, runs, drives, and stops like it should. 1967 Buick GS 400

1967 Buick GS 400

Engine: 400 CID V8
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 77,539 ( undocumented )

This 1967 Buick GS 400 convertible is special car as it carries the new generation V8 motor and sported the out of sight red "Star Wars" air cleaner! The entire GS package was coming together and forming its own identity instead of being an adjunct to the Skylark- Special series. Production of 1967 GS 400 convertibles was low to start with. Only about 2,140 cars in all forms. There were 9 three speed manual cars made and 422 four speed manual cars. Which leads us to our example finished in bright red. The white soft top looks incredible against the bold red paint, but with just one touch of a button, the power roof folds down to reveal an even more impressive interior. The rich black inside against the shining red paint has the kind of bold and sophisticated presentation you want from a Buick GS. All the best original trim is still in place, from the chrome GS 400 badges on the door panels, to the Buick crest sitting below the dash. Under the hood this car proudly shows off the 400 cubic-inch powerplant. It had an advertised 340 horsepower, but remember, those were days of underrating for the insurance people. After all, this big block V8 with the four-barrel carburetor has an unmistakably powerful rumble from the dual exhaust. And being equipped with the one wire ignition means this is one of the more reliable cars you can get your hands on from this era. You can view this 1967 Buick GS in greater detail including HD pictures and an HD video of it running and driving at Gatewayclassiccars.com. 1978 Buick Regal Sport Coupe Turbo

1978 Buick Regal Sport Coupe Turbo

Engine: 3.8L V6
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 38,320 ( actual )

For sale in our Detroit Showroom is a very unique 1978 Buick Regal Turbo Coupe. Buick's V6 story dates back to the early sixties when it debuted the engine in 1962. In the time of cheap gas and big V8's, the V6 wasn't very popular, so in 1966, Buick sold the tooling to Kaiser Jeep (later part of American Motors Corp.) where it found its way into many Jeep vehicles. But by 1974, small displacement and fuel economy were the direction of the future and Buick bought back the little V6 from AMC. With the success of the '76 Pace Car, Buick began work to adapt the Turbo V6 to production vehicles. The idea was performance and economy. Buick wasn't trying to make a "musclecar", but rather a compromise between the V-8 power and V-6 fuel economy. In 1978, Buick added the Turbo 3.8 231 cid V6 to newly designed Regal and LeSabre. Both cars were given the model designation "Sport Coupe." Each subsequent year, engineers refined the little Turbo V6. It found its way into several models, including the FWD Riviera and Chevrolet's Monte Carlo, but the most popular model, by far, was the Regal. This 1978 Regal is dressed in Brown with a Light Tan interior that looks amazing. The sound that this turbo generates makes driving this beautiful Buick intoxicating. With under 40,000 original miles, you can guarantee that this Buick has plenty of life left for its next owner. 1947 Buick Woody Wagon

Engine: 248 CID OHV Inline 8 Cylinder
Transmission: 3 Speed Manual
Mileage: 36,791 ( undocumented )

The Detroit Showroom is proud to offer a super rare and 1947 Buick Woodie Wagon! While Buick’s postwar lineup was still based upon its prewar designs, the mildly revised 1946–1948 models garnered very strong public favor nonetheless. With the proven overhead valve Dynaflash straight eight, fully coil-sprung suspensions, and Harley Earl-supervised styling with fade-away front fenders, broad grilles, and remarkably restrained bright-trim accents, these cars remain collector staples today. During that era, the Series 50 Super Estate Wagon, with handsome Woodie bodywork by Michigan’s Ionia Manufacturing Company, topped Buick’s mid-tier offerings with a factory price of nearly $2,600. Just 2,036 of them, including five for export, were produced for 1947. This Woodie is a Series 50; Model 59, 110-hp, 248-cid OHV Dynaflash inline eight-cylinder engine with three-speed column-mounted manual transmission. The rarity of this vehicle in todays market makes this beautiful Buick a real gem. The history of this Buick has left its footprint in automotive history and will always be a high value vehicle. The wood accents on the vehicle are in pristine condition and have no splits and show very well. Every bit of this Buick screams nostalgia and has an unforgettable presence and it belongs in a museum or your very own private collection. This is a once in a lifetime chance to own a piece of automotive history. 1971 Buick Riviera

1971 Buick Riviera

Engine: 455 CID V8
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 13,019 ( undocumented )

This 1971 Buick Riviera is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The name Riviera was actually chosen due to its Latin origin meaning coastline. Buick used this evoke the allure and influence of the French Riviera. Along the years it would have a number of different body styles but the most memorable has to be the “Boat Tail” design of the early 70’s. Designed b y the famous Bill Mitchell and penned by the future lead designer of Nissan Jerry Hirshberg the car would be considered a little too radical by many. Today the classic body lines lend them self to some of the best customs you will ever see. This example, though not a complete custom, has used its paint and a little medal work to give it a one-off look. The silver paint is slick and goes well with the cars lines making it a great base to start with. The custom hand laid graphic going around the middle of the car help to distinguish the body lines. The black on the bottom gives the car a very 3-dimensional look while exaggerating the round styling. The louvers on the trunk are Inside the year only design and define the 71 looks. The original interior is intact and while not in excellent condition it is very nice for its age. The stock gauges look like you’re in the seat of a fighter plane. Under the hood is the original 455 4-barrel big block that gets the car going down the road respectively. The TH400 transmission shifts like it should while not to interrupt that smooth almost floating ride quality. Options on this 1971 Buick Riviera include, AC, AM/FM Radio, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Locks, Power Seats, Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts Tilt Wheel, and Alloy Wheels with Radial Tires. 1935 Buick Series 40

1935 Buick Series 40

Engine: 383 Stroker
Transmission: T10 Richmond 4 Speed
Mileage: 100 ( since rebuilt )

This one-off custom 1935 Buick Series 40 is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. Streetrods have been a staple in the car for world for an extremely long time. This Streetrod has been customized to a degree that is sure to make the next owner proud to call it their own. Starting with smoothing the body by removing the bumpers the car began to take shape. The opera windows were closed off with a custom skull carved into a piece of sheet metal which was laid on top. Turn on the red LED behind it and watch as it comes to life. The skull theme is carried on into the grill which is one of the neatest pieces I have seen. The red lights behind it illuminate it and help to showoff how much detail went into this build. Even the side marker lights have been cut out into skulls, but the best has to be the custom hood ornament with its little red eyes glowing at you. The body has been sitting back on the original frame which was cleaned up for a nicer look. The front end has been switched out to a more modern Mustang II style giving it a better ride. The rear end is courtesy of a S10 with the ladder bar suspension helping to plant all the power to the ground. Speaking of power, the 383 stroker under that hood is enough to wake the dead. Consisting of Procomp Aluminum Heads, a Holley 750 Double Pumper, and HEI Distributor this is one rowdy small block. An aluminum dress up kit makes it look good while Hedman Headers take care of the exhaust. The Richmond 4 speed makes this rod, a blast to drive and something not seen in too many of them. Open the doors and you will notice it’s a clear shot straight through with no B pillar to obstruct the view. With reinforcements added you don’t have to worry about the body beginning to sag over time. The front seats are out of a 95 Mustang and have been recovered to match the rest of the car. Although it appears to have manual windows hit the handle down or up and the power window moves accordingly. If you have been looking for a great custom streetrod that is sure to grab everyone’s attention this 35 Series Buick is the one. Options on this 1935 Buick Series 40 include; Power Windows, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Seat, Manual Convertible Top, Seat Belts, and Aluminum Wheels wrapped in Radial Tires. 1992 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon

1992 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon

Engine: 5.7L V8 FI OHV 16V
Transmission: 4 Speed Automatic w/OD
Mileage: 28,369 ( undocumented )

This low mileage 1992 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The origins of the Roadmaster name date back to 1936 when Buick added it to their entire line up. Taken out of Buicks line up the namesake would not return until 1991 with the Estate Wagon. Based on the full-size rear wheel drive B platform sales would see a huge increase selling almost 10 times as many cars VS the previous year. This 92 is a great example of these classic wagons. The paint is original with the light blue being one of the more desirable colors. The woodgrain running down the side is classic Roadmaster and still shows extremely well. Many say the reason for these being so successful was the V8 engine under that long-rounded hood. This one retains its original L05 V8 which was rated at 180HP and the precursor to the now legendary LT1. The 4l60 transmission shifts out nice and smooth with the OD giving the ability to run 70 on the highway while keeping the RPM’s down. Open the door and a very clean and original blue leather interior compliments the exterior nicely. Have a seat behind the wheel as you begin to sink in it is easy to see why many say these are the most comfortable cars they ever drove. The suspension is soft giving the car that classic floating feel. The highway of course is where these wagons shine and especially when cruising down the open road. The ones in the back seat get the real treat with the moonroof allowing for clear views of the sky above. If you have been thinking about going with a cross-over vehicle but want to be a little different this 1992 Buick Roadmaster Wagon is the perfect fit. Options on this 1992 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon include; AC, AM/FM/Cassette, Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Brakes, Power Seat, Seat Belts, Power Locks, Tilt, Seat Belts, Leather Interior, Hub Caps, and Radial Tires. 1970 Buick GSX

1970 Buick GSX

Engine: 455 CI V8
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Mileage: 85,707 ( undocumented )

If you’re looking for a rare and show-quality car, look no further than this 1970 Buick GSX! The Gran Sport name has been used by Buick to denote several high-performance cars since 1965. Since Cadillac did not present an offering during the muscle car era, the Buick models are considered the most well-appointed GM sports models of the day. In 1970, the 400cid engine was replaced by the new 455cid V8. The base model was rated at 350hp and 510 ft-lb of torque. The optional Stage-1 version was rated at 360hp and 510 lb-ft of torque at 2800 rpm. The Stage-1 engine used cylinder heads that were machined differently to accept larger valves and to produce a tighter compression ratio. The option also included a more aggressive camshaft, specially tuned Quadra jet carburetor, more aggressive ignition timing, 5/8” oil pickup tube and a higher numerical final drive. Also, in 1970, GM decided to step up yet another notch with the GSX high performance package. The GSX was Buicks’ answer to the Pontiac GTO Judge and was introduced relatively late in the 1970 model year. As a result, only 678 GSXs were produced that year and only 400 with the Stage 1 engine option. The impressive performance has become a legend unto its own and is partly due to the light weight of the 455 (150 lbs less than the 426 Hemi). The torque rating was also the highest output of any American production performance car, a record held for 33 years until finally surpassed by the V10 Viper in 2003. The 1970 Buick GSX came in 2 colors, Saturn Yellow and Apollo White, a full black interior, and has arguably the most extensive list of standard high-performance features of any classic era muscle car. We are thrilled to have this Yellow 1970 frame-off restored beauty in our Milwaukee showroom. The numbers-matching Stage-1 455 has been completely rebuilt and the owner states 1,100 miles since. The transmission was replaced with a rebuilt period correct Muncie M22 4-speed manual with 3.64 limited slip differential. This is a non-AC car and includes power steering and power brakes. Styling features unique to the GSX include a distinctive full body length black stripe crossing over the rear spoiler, hood mounted tachometer and black front spoiler. Also standard are black bucket seats, quick ratio steering, anti-sway bars front and rear and quad-link suspension. This 1970 GSX is for sale in our Milwaukee Showroom and can be seen at www.GatewayClassicCars.com; call (262) 891-4253 or email us at milwaukee@gatewayclassiccars.com for additional information.
