Up for sale in our Tampa showroom is one of the most well known cars to hit the show scene, the 1949 Ford Custom. Known as the "Shoebox Ford", these cars are very popular amongst collectors, enthusiasts and drivers both young and old. The classic styling of the exterior, when matched to a stunning level of chrome show quality paint, these cars are sure to make your entire family happy as you go out for a cruise on the town. The engine is a numbers matching flathead V8, one of Ford's most popular engines, which although never made a truly impressive amount of power, the pure simplicity of the engine makes it a very desirable one for both hot rodders and collectors alike. The transmission is a 3-speed manual, or "3 on the tree" as most know it, as the shifter is mounted to the steering column. Although these transmissions feel very different from your standard floor shifter, these are very simple to learn, and are a great experience to teach today's youth about driving manuals. The interior is done completely to factory specifications, with the cloth and vinyl bench seat in both front and rear, it is designed to be a complete family car. The front seats are split down the middle for ease of access into the rear. The dashboard is adorned with a gloss black finish to keep everything as show quality as possible, with the chrome switches placed perfectly. The ignition systems are very simple on these cars as well, by turning the key and pressing the starter button, you are ready to cruise out. The exterior is painted in a near-flawless high gloss black paint that when accented by just the right level of chrome trim, is sure to grab everyones attention. The shoebox Ford is by far one of the most popular street rod and hotrod choices by far, and finding this one as original as this is becoming increasingly harder to find. Options include AM Radio, Hub Caps, Cloth Interior, White Walls and a Numbers Matching Flathead V8. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer Shoebox Ford for sale!
