For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a one of a kind 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air. This masterpiece is making some serious power. 1,200 horsepower! This isn't an easy figure to produce and some serious and expensive machinery is needed. To start, the engine is a Merlin 600 fitted with Dart 320 aluminum heads and a 10-71 blower with intercooler. Sitting on top of the blower are a pair of Holley 850s feeding the fuel to this beast of an engine. With so many cubic inches and a giant blower, the engine doesn't need a monstrous camshaft that needs tons of RPMs before it makes power, the power is instant! The engine has very useable power, all the internals are communicating with each other in perfect harmony. The transmission is a 2-speed automatic from Alan Pope and includes a trans-brake for quick launches. The rear is a Ford 9" with 3.70 gears with Harden Axles. Don't mistake this car for just power, it will contend with the best show cars around. The paint is a beautiful Black Cherry with a Red Pearl accent color. The interior will stop you in your tracks. Diamond stitched black leather seats accented with red leather and stainless steel hardware adorn the inside with a matching headliner. There is a custom center console that flows into the rear that divides the rear seats and acts as an arm rest. You may notice the red button on the shifter, this is a red button that you can actually press. By doing so, you are engaging the trans brake. This will allow for very quick launches from a standing start and engage reverse when you have the gear selector in the reverse position. This wonderful Bel Air is riding on a set of polished American Racing wheels and are wearing sticky Mickey Thompson rubber. Brakes consist of slotted and drilled Wilwoods and the suspension is comprised of adjustable coil overs. Modern conveniences include Power windows, Power brakes, Power steering Stereo with CD and Air Conditioning. This amazing 1956 Bel Air is in our St. Louis showroom and is waiting for its next proud owner to show it off and burn some rubber.
