For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is an awe inspiring 1988 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole. This amazing piece of art and machinery has been with its second owner for the last twenty years. The actual mileage is 14,125, while the odometer shows 22,848 in kilometers. It's obvious how well it has been loved and cared for over the years. The car has never been restored and is still wearing the original paint and Pirelli P7R tires. Those giant rear tires measure 335/35R15 and were specially made for the Countach. This Countach is the 5000 Quattrovalvole and produces 420 horsepower and will rev to 7,500 rpm! Many sources say that the 5000 Quattro was the best version of the Countach. The Lamborghini Countach was first produced in 1974 and was a true work of art. No one had ever seen a car with such body lines. The closest thing to it was a Pantera with a Ford engine. The Countach is powered by an amazing V12 engine that sounds like a symphony in perfect harmony that finishes off with a throaty growl. It went through many transformations over the years starting from 4 liters and a half a dozen down draft Webers, all the way to 5 liters, 4 valves per cylinder and fuel injection. Lamborghini originally made tractors and was very successful. Mr. Lamborghini went to Ferrari and requested some changes be made to the clutch that was used on current Ferraris. Enzo quickly declined and the Lamborghini auto company was born just 3 months later. They have been at each other's throats ever since. During the Countach era, Ferrari did their best to compete. First with the 365 Berlinetta powered by a flat 12 boxer engine, then the Testarossa and finally the 288 GTO with twin turbo chargers. The Lamborghini was able to stay ahead and remain the better performer. Of all the Lamborghinis produced since 1963, the Countach remains the most recognizable and is without question a collector piece. If you're ready to sit in the red leather bucket seats (very comfortable), turn the key to ignite all 12 cylinders, slip the shifter into 1st gear and experience something that will stay with you for the rest of your life, call us to discuss your options on purchasing this amazing piece of machinery. Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to present this ultra rare and desirable 1966 Shelby GT350 Fastback Mustang. Documentation and known history are two important attributes for collector cars. This 1966 Shelby GT350, SFM6S2185, possesses plenty of both. As noted in the Shelby American Automobile Club’s “Shelby Registry 1965-67,” the GT350 was shipped from the Shelby American assembly facility in Los Angeles to Ford Motor Company in June 1966, then delivered to Courtesy Motors in Littleton, Colorado. In the 1970s, the Shelby was owned by a southern California detective who sometimes used this beauty as an undercover vehicle. Since 1979, it has been in the hands of collectors to ensure it was cared for through the years. During the 1980s, it participated in west coast shows, including SAAC-6 and the Palo Alto Concours D’Elegance. From 1987 to 2013, the GT350 was owned by a private collector; a 1988 restoration resulted in numerous Best of Show awards, perfect scores from both SAAC and the Mustang Club of America, and features in several magazines. “Super Ford” magazine named it “the best Shelby of the year” for 1989. The Guardsman Blue GT350 retains much of its original equipment, including the factory-installed 4-speed transmission and matching-numbers 289 Hi-Po V-8 that was modified to Shelby specs for 306 horsepower. Like all 1966 GT350s, the car was delivered to Shelby American as a K-code Mustang fastback, then upgraded with a Cobra aluminum intake with Holley carb, Tri-Y headers, Koni shock absorbers, rear traction bars, 15-inch wheels, dash-mounted tachometer, competition seatbelts and wood steering wheel. Externally, the Shelby models differed from regular Mustangs with a fiberglass hood with scoop, plexiglas rear quarter windows and side scoops. Only 2,378 were built. In 2014, this car underwent a fresh restoration by Orlando Mustang, which resulted in Best in Class awards at the 2104 Keels and Wheels Concours D’Elegance and the 2015 Valero Show. It was featured in the July 2015 “Mustang Times” and displayed at the Bush Library from August to October 2016.
